Job Summary
The Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician position entails daily travel to various client facilities throughout their territory to service control system components. These services include installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration. Travel is dynamic with customer needs and will be local as well as long distance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair various instrumentation equipment such as sensors, transmitters, controllers, and analyzers.
- Install control system components at client facilities such as monitors, thin clients, servers, switches and firewalls.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation systems to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure reliability and accuracy of instrumentation systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to implement upgrades and modifications to instrumentation systems.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to understand and troubleshoot instrumentation systems.
- Conduct tests and inspections of instrumentation systems to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations and protocols.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Assemble electrical control panels, junction boxes, and enclosures according to electrical schematics and layout drawings.
- Install and mount electrical components, such as circuit breakers, relays, PLCs, transformers, and wiring ducts, ensuring proper fit and function.
- Route and connect wires according to specifications, ensuring all connections are secure, labeled, and comply with safety standards.
- Fabricate and modify panel enclosures, including cutting, drilling, and punching holes to accommodate components.
- Measure, cut, and install wireways, conduits, and other mechanical components as needed.
- Operate various hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate assembly and fabrication.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including modifications and updates to schematics.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to suggest improvements in design or processes.
- Document maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and calibration results
Qualifications
- Journeyperson or technical certification in Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as an Instrumentation/Electrical Technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance.
- Experience with instrumentation controls, PLC systems, SCADA, and industrial automation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
