Job Summary:
The Shop Hand (Panel Wireman) role involves assisting with general shop duties and performing electrical wiring of control panels and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment and a strong mechanical aptitude, basic electrical knowledge, and experience in operating a forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Asssist with material handling, inventory organization, and shop cleanliness
- Operate basic hand and power tools to support fabrication and assembly
- Perform physical duties as required
- Load/unload deliveries and prepare components for production
- Support technicians and tradespeople with daily tasks and project preparation
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
- Assemble and wire industrial control panels
- Perform point-to-point wiring, crimping, and soldering as required
- Conduct basic continuity and functionality tests on completed panels
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with safety regulations
- Maintain documentation of services performed
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents, and inspect for damage
- Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and documentation
- Track inventory movement and update records accurately
- Coordinate with vendors, couriers, and internal departments as needed
- Organizing and sorting inventory
- Safely operate a forklift to move materials, load/unload trucks, and organize stock
- Perform daily equipment checks and report any maintenance issues
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain certification (if applicable)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in electrical or mechanical fields preferred
- 1–2 years of experience in a shop, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with electrical components and wiring techniques
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain (training may be provided)
- Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed instructions
- Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail, safety-conscious, and team-oriented
